Dawn, Delicate Arch -
Arches National Park Painting

The "best" time to photograph Delicate Arch is at sunset, as that's when the soft evening light falls directly on the side of the Arch that you can actually get close to. However, because of this, the evening is about the worst time to visit the arch due to the crowds gathered around to take photos like this, or this.
By contrast, dawn is the best time for visiting the Arch, and that's what I've captured with this painting. It's calm, the light is soft, the cliffs to the southwest get lit brilliantly, and best of all there's usually nobody else around.
